Biblical and Values-based storyteller, children’s author and pastor who believes in the power of Story.
Possibilities: You are God’s Storyteller • finding and telling the best story for the moment • building and telling great stories •
“Dave’s storytelling is vibrant and exciting. He has the ability to bring a story to life where both children and adults are fascinated and feel like they are part of it. Each time Dave speaks to children or adults, you’re left wanting to hear more.” — Nathan Hill (Principal, Edinburgh Primary School, Victoria)
• Over the past 2 decades, my passion for telling the world’s greatest story has taken me to churches, schools, and camps, led me to write seven books, and feature in two video series (“God’s Storytellers” series for Children and a training workshop “STORY=POWER”). I’m originally from the USA. Don’t hold that against me, I married an Aussie girl! We have three superb children: Cyrus, Michael and Rachael. You can read more of my writing and learn about my books and storytelling on my blog.
Sample session titles and descriptions:
• A Telling Theology
You are God’s Storyteller
Exciting Biblical storytelling is modeled while revealing Biblical proof that storytelling is God’s primary purpose for His people!
From the dragon story in the Book of Revelation to the Shema in Deuteronomy 6, God’s declared purpose for His people is that they pass the story on to their children and the world around them. We have the testimony of Jesus and must tell it with our actions and our words.
• Telling the Right Story, Right: Now!
finding and telling the best story for the moment
Explore the heart and hands of storytelling. What comes before the story? How do we choose and develop the story? How do we tell the story?
After exploring Jesus’ communication skills and learning to hear the heart of our listeners; we look at the six stories of influence, discover our style of telling and learn the keys to being believable storytellers.
• The Shape of Story
building and telling great stories
After exploring the storytelling triangle, the story building cycle, and the homiletical plot we start designing a story of our own using the Storytellers Seat.
If any of that left you with questions, you need this workshop!
Look forward to hearing from you soon!
