Representatives of the denominations/organisations that comprise the Victorian CMN gather regularly to:
- Learn together
- Share together
- Pray together
- Encourage one another.
A consequence of this shared relational time is an increased capacity for denominations/organisations to work engage together on projects for mutual benefit. A small Executive meets more frequently to facilitate the CMN gatherings, attend to the administrative aspects of the CMN and provide oversight of shared CMN expressions.
In addition to the individual partnerships and projects that emerge, the Victorian CMN intentionally expresses itself through:
- CMN Local Area Networks
- CMN Training Partnership
- CMN Theological Partnership
Local area networks are geographically based and operate in both metropolitan and non-metropolitan regions. Similar to the gathering of the state-level CMN, these local networks provide the opportunity for those engaged in leadership of ministry with children and their families to share together, learn together, pray together and encourage one another.
The Training Partnership seeks to encourage and shape the training of leaders for ministry with children and their families in congregations, schools and local communities across Victoria. Primarily, it facilitates greater coordination, cross-promotion, encouragement, support and relationship amongst the various denominations and organisations engaged in training activities.
The Theological Partnership aims to facilitate the growing of leaders who are theologically equipped for enabling effective ministry with children and families. It seeks to achieve this aim through engaging with and contributing to denominational ordination, post ordination and continuing education and processes and enabling and facilitating access to children and families related content at theological institutions which do not currently have such access.
As part of the national network of state-based CMNs, the Victorian CMN also participates in shared activities such as the bi-annual Leaders to Go conference and on-going work relating to the CMN website.
